AIA is an architectural office based in downtown Lisbon.
AIA is a simple and catchy expression, besides being a Portuguese feminine noun that means the trustworthy person in charge of the education of noble children, a person to whom is entrusted the responsibility of taking care of one's most precious goods.

Co-founder and Architect
Being originally from Cascais, David lived one year in Graz (Austria) under the Erasmus program, before graduating from Lisbon's Faculdade de Arquitectura (FAUL) in 2012 with his Master thesis "A place for the performing arts". After finishing his studies, David went living in Lausanne (Switzerland), where he first worked at the architectural office Butikofer Oliveira Vernay until 2013, and then started working at the architectural office Dreier Frenzel until 2015. After a long trip through Asia, David founded AIA in the beginning of 2016.
Co-founder and Architect
Born in downtown Lisbon, Filipa lived one year in Graz (Austria) under the Erasmus program, before graduating from Lisbon's Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in 2011 with her Master thesis "Media Facade - New challenges for an (i)material architecture". After finishing her studies, Filipa went living in Lausanne (Switzerland), where she worked at the architectural office Burckhardt + Partner until 2015. After a long trip through Asia, Filipa founded AIA in the beginning of 2016.
Sofia de Sousa Santos
Sofia lives and works in Lisbon. In the beginning of 2015 graduates from Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL), with her Master thesis “A shelter for people and boats without windows doors or ceiling” in Berlenga Island. After finishing her studies, Sofia has collaborated with several architectural offices as Openbook, Paulo Moreira Architectures and Filipe Mónica. During 2017 studied woodwork and started to draw furniture. In the beginning of 2018 Sofia joined the AIA team.
Pedro Marques Santo
Being originally from Cascais, Pedro lived one year in Milan (Italy) under the Erasmus program, before graduating from Lisbon's Faculdade de Arquitectura (FAUL) in the beginning of 2017 with his Master thesis "From the Palace to the city - intervention in Ajuda's hill". In 2018, he was selected as one of the finalists of the Archiprix 2018 Competition. Pedro joined the AIA team just after finishing his studies.
